Why give to Mathcamp?
Mathcamp gives an incredible academic experience to incredible students. We empower students to take charge of their own education: as a camper, you can take any classes you want, and even the number of classes that you attend each day is up to you: you can use the rest of the time to review what you've learned, talk to one of your professors, work on problems, or just take a break. For many students, the freedom to take charge of their own education is one of the aspects of Mathcamp that they value most.
Equally profound is the learning that takes place outside of the classroom. For many (if not most) students, Mathcamp will be the first time that they have found a real peer group, and we watch them thrive in an environment of mutual respect and admiration. Of course, the campers say it best:
It's hard to explain how much Mathcamp has come to mean to me. I heard a lot about it before I applied, but even the wonderful things that I heard have nothing on what Mathcamp is like. It's five weeks of meeting the people you've always wanted to meet and meeting the people you never knew you wanted to meet. But our resources are limited. We're a small non-profit with a tight budget, and we face rising costs every year while keeping tuition as consistently low as possible. We are also deeply committed to providing financial assistance to those families who cannot afford Mathcamp's tuition, and in the past five years, no qualified student has been unable to attend the program for financial reasons.
