New location, lots of new classes and traditions and students, same great program and culture! Read our 2018 Year-End Report [PDF].

  • We brought 120 great kids to Mathcamp: 51 girls, 68 boys, and one non-binary student, coming from 26 U.S. states, 3 Canadian provinces, and 8 other countries (Brazil, China, England, Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Poland, and Russia). There were 72 first-year students and 48 returning alumni. (Every year, admission for the new crop of students gets more and more comeptitive; this year's campers were selected from 512 applicants.)
  • We did so much math! We ran 129 classes taught by 41 different instructors. The topics ranged from "DIY Hyperbolic Geometry" to "Mathematical Art History" to "Differential Topology". Read the schedules and descriptions here.
  • Mathcamp took place in Colorado this summer for the first year since 2002! We explored a new campus: Colorado School of Mines, an engineering school at the foothills of the Rockies. We took full advantage of the region on our field trips. We saw fossils at Dinosaur Ridge, got splashed while whitewater rafting, explored downtown Denver, and did some beautiful hiking in the Rocky Mountains.
  • We awarded over $175,000 in financial aid. Mathcamp continues to be completely free for families with household incomes of $65,000 and below, and tuition is on a sliding scale for middle-income families. This year, we awarded need-based scholarships to a third of our students (40 out of 120), including 31 full scholarships! Our Scholarship Fund comes from the AMS Epsilon Fund, the National Science Foundation, and (primarily) the alumni, family and friends of Mathcamp from 1995 to present.

As one new student described the experience:

"I wish I had found out about Mathcamp many years before I did. I expected to learn a lot of math. I did. What I did not expect to find was a vibrant and loving community of interesting people that I know will stay with me for a very long time and to which I cannot wait to return."

It was an amazing summer at camp. Thank you for supporting Mathcamp 2018!
